Welcome to my Website and thanks for looking in.
What I do is help business owners to improve themselves and their business.
I have been fortunate enough to enjoy success in the past, however it’s the incredible experiences which emanated from the challenging times which I draw on now, for the benefit of my clients.
I have been involved from start-ups through to MBO, and maximising value in preparation for sale.
Clearly to take a business from start up to sale requires very different skills and an open mind. An objective perspective can help support you through.
I have come across some strange reasons for wanting a Non Exec on board, and whilst the role can grow and develop through time, the key purpose is to participate fully in the functioning of the board, advising, supporting, and asking the right questions of the management team.
A benefit is to provide an objective view of the progress and achievement of the key aims of the business.
Mentorship is a personal development relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. However, true mentoring is more than just answering occasional questions or providing ad hoc help. It is about an ongoing relationship of learning, dialogue, and challenge.
The above description is unashamedly taken from Wikipedia, and provides an excellent starting point.
I would argue that for those businesses with employees, some 90%+ of challenges will involve people. Attraction, recruitment, training & development, appraisal, retention, performance, timekeeping, attendance and so on.
I have experience of running a business with up to 55 employees, and I have been through the pains and pleasures of doing so. If you have challenges or opportunities of the Human kind, then I can provide practical support. See mentoring page again.
When someone starts a new business, it can be for a variety of reasons.
All of them may be relevant, as long as you identify with your reason and plan accordingly.
